Cakes

There are a few cakes that I have in my repertoire, simply because they are crowd pleasers and it’s what most people want. Chocolate and vanilla are not the most exciting cakes, but if you have one handy that’s easy and foolproof to make, it will make people happy. Unfortunately, very few people ever allow you total creative freedom when you’re making their birthday cakes and are particularly conservative if ordering for someone else!

But even with the snoozefest of chocolate cake, there are ways of making it more exciting. So starting with the basics, I then try to think of ways of adding flavour or texture.
